Another character asks what it means, and she replies Panzer Vor means and you can clearly hear her saying the phrase in the two languages, but the subtitle is Panzer Vor means Panzer Vor. There is even a part where one character says Panzer Vor in actual German. It doesn't sound to me like they're speaking German, just translating some phases to it instead of English, sometimes whole lines, and I'm left wondering just what exactly they said. The sub titles are annoying though in the way they sprinkle in a bunch of German.

They've just teased with the tank battles so far but they look like the could be well done. Not as "epic" as some though.Īlso watched the first two episodes of the Girl und Panzer the other night. Thought it was pretty well done in the same style as all his rest. I'm 16, and generally pretty unshakable, but 22 and 23 actually left me feeling ill.ĪduroT wrote: JUST got done watching Myazaki's version of The Borrowers. But bloody hell.ĭo NOT let your kids watch it. The "It hurts, Shinji" bit really made me shudder.Īn absolute masterpiece? Unquestionably.

23 decided to include even more rape imagery ("PENETRATION WARNING" for crying out loud!) and as for the bit where the Angel and Shinji's hands started sprouting Reis.Ugh. And to cap it all off, FETHING HALLELUJAH was playing, which made the whole thing 10 TIMES WORSE. Asuka's mind rape was so horrible that it got stuck in my mind for a whole day after. Secondly, episodes 22 and 23 were.the most disturbing things I have ever watched, EVER. What has happened? Have the events of the previous 25 episodes all been in Shinji's head? Has he finally snapped? Did he nearly cause instrumentality and brought everyone back? Is Hideaki Anno a massive troll who enjoys confusing and disturbing people? I liked it, but it screwed my mind sideways. Argh.įirst, the ending was.Confusing to say the least. I recently finished Neon Genesis Evangelion. Its a shame to see a show do poorly on DVD sales simply because Aniplex got their hands on it. Madoka has a few episodes and costs more. Its 40 dollars US for 6 OVA movies that total to about 300 minutes. If you want to see a huge difference just look at Brokenblade on amazon. Aniplex thinks that the US market is the Japanese market. Usually anime sells for 90 dollars a Blu-Ray. Japan sells anime this way, but more expensive IIRC. Its unreasonable to pay 50 dollars US for 3 episodes. the fullmetal alchemist brotherhood collections are an insane $60 New Zealand which is about $50 US.Well that makes sense that stuff that sells more gets priced just a bit more than everything else, but that isn't too unreasonable in my opinion.

Its kinda sad to see them exploiting the inelasticity of the demand for them but it does get a little tiresome. They charge a huge sum for those compared to others titles just because they know people want them. I don't mean bleach and naruto and one piece and everything else that has a million episodes but the stuff like fullmetal and coyboy bebop. It was certainly a Gorg time.Ledabot wrote: I think the only thing that's really questionable is the pricing they put on main stream stuff. Not quite a kids show, there's certainly plenty of violence and some very minor nudity, but no gore or anything extreme, If you're looking for a fun old school anime I would definitely recommend. I had fun over this entire series, and it surprised me at multiple points, the 80s music is just nostalgic perfection.

Directed by Yoshikazu Yasukiho, more famous for his earlier work on Mobile Suit Gundam, Giant Gorg has a lot of similar mecha-anime tropes, but is also a self-contained series that luckily didn't become a vehicle for selling toys, which I think really worked in favour of its character design and story arcs. Quickly he discovers Gorg, one of many robotic giants that seem to wander the island and attack its inhabitants. Suddenly the doctor is murdered at the height of his research, thrusting his young son Yuu on a quest to find out the island's secrets and the seemingly evil organization GAIL which has taken over control of the island. Tanaka is investigating the mysterious Austral Island, an island in the middle of the ocean a few thousand km south of Samoa which appeared with no explanation.
